No MMO is perfect at launch, WoW had hours long queues for months and a ton of big and small bugs, Aion was lagging like hell and destroying graphic cards, WaR had a memory leak bug wich made Altdorf (Capital city) crash the computer every single time, and the list goes on with many MMOs.
Swtor is not stranger to launch hiccups and seems to be suffering from what I’ll dub the “1001 bugs of annoyance”. So far, I haven’t heard of or found literal game breaking bugs but I have found a ton of smaller ones that while not preventing you to play, can make virtual life really annoying. I think by now, all Swtor players can recite Ctrl-U x2 (UI reset) like a prayer.
It’s a weird spot to be in to be honest. I can’t pinpoint any single bug that would make me want to quit this great game but I can see the sum of all the littles ones become an issue for many players, myself included, as time passes and the new game smell start to wear off. I mean that I’m noticing little things daily and just reading today patch notes, of all the bugs they said they fixed, I only knew of a single one, which means many bugs I noticed are still in the game. A quick trip to the support/bug report forums or simply talking with friends gives a glimpse in just how big the task ahead of Bioware is.
At this point I’d like to say I’m not panicking and I don’t think the end of the world is coming for Swtor but I’m really curious as to how Bioware will tackle this. If we go by the current pace set by the previous patches of the past few weeks it’s obvious something needs to be done or it will take years to fix everything and I don’t think we’ll be patient that long. Like I said, no panic yet but I’ll be watching what Bioware strategy is.
