If there’s ever been a low time in my MMO playing career this is it. Not really motivated to log into anything, nothing on the close horizon seems to be grabbing my attention, FF14 came close but the murderous reviews changed my mind, and I’m stuck in a waiting pattern. STO is nice but it feels more like a sidedish and I’m hungering for a main course.
So in the meantime I’m following advice given to me and I’m just playing some console and single player games. Tought I’d share what I’m up to.
Metroid: Other M
I do not know why the critics were so mean with this game but for my part I’m having a lot of fun. Sure, Samus talks a lot and the scenario gets soapy more than once but that’s not exactly why I’m playing the game. Other M still plays like a lot of Metroid games and the return to a more platformer formula is really appreciated.
Goold old shooter fun. I have a soft spot for the Halo series because it’s one of the few fantasy/sci-fi shooters out there that’s not into the whole “military/realist” vibe. Not that being realistic is bad but sometimes I love my epic sci-fi action too. Also, the campaign in coop mode is just a blast.
Recettear: An Item Shop Tale
Lot of people commented on this one. It’s an incredibly addictive game that starts out as a joke but unfolds into a full-fledged game full of depth. There’s something deeply addictive about selling items to adventurers and town people. I highly recommend it, especially if you’re the kind of gamer who actually had fun playing the auction house in WoW.
