After reading again about Mmogamerchick STO adventures for yet another time my will crumbled. I had tried the game two times before but I never could get into it. I blamed it on mostly boring gameplay, bugs or it just not clicking with me but now I’m at a loss to explain why it didn’t click before. Despite the previous experiences, STO is game I really wanted to like just because of the IP and space combat. So, a bit bored with WoW, I decided to give it another try to see if third time would be the charm.
Well I’ll be damned. It does seem like third time is the charm. Since reinstalling the game I’ve played nearly non stop and I’m having really a blast. I have to say tough that I can attribute some of it to someone telling me to at least get to 11(lt commander) before giving up as the early game is really the low point. I have to agree, the first few missions are rather boring and until you get out of the generic first tutorial missions, the game really isn’t that great. Wich is a shame since it’s a player first contact with the game.
Also, despite a cold start, meeting up with some others bloggers in the Federation News Service Fleet has really gone a long way to help out make the experience that much better. Big thanks to Mmogamerchick, Tipa, Rowan, BlueKae and numerous others I’m forgetting here. Thanks to all of you for answering my noob questions and making the game a much better place.
I’m not leaving WoW, far from it. But for the foreseeable future it seems like I’ll be spending some time in STO.
