This post has been last updated on July 14th 2011. The information contained is up to date as of October 16th, 2009. I haven’t been playing Aion in a long while but I figure this guide should still be relevant.
If your playing Elyos the Krall quests are well known to you. Day in and day out people are constantly asking for groups to finish these quests. I’ve put this guide together so you can finish them in the fewest runs possible. For clarity sake this guide will focus on the campaign quests of Verteron.
What are the Krall quests?
The Krall quests are the last quests of the Verteron campaign for Elyos. They are all group quests and probably the first group experience of many players in Aion. As such you are bound to run into a ton of retarded monkeys. If your lucky like me you find yourself a super patient and awesome legion who’s willing to run these for a week for their members. And even then, like the Legion leader said, it’s kinda like hearding cats. It’s important to mention that a lot of people, when referring to Krall quests as referring to the Tursin Garrison area. However, if you want to complete the whole campaign there are group quests to do outside of it.
Here’s a quick rundown of the “Krall” quests:
–Flying Reconnaissance: done in Tursin oupost and then Tursin garrison. This quest has you running all over the place and might have to be done in multiple groups.
–Held Sacred: pick up 5 Icon of Kaisinel from the Krall just outside the garrison, garrison groups will often do it while heading in the garrison.
–Mark of Vengeance: pick up 50 krall marks. This is the longest and most boring part. With a bit of luck your group will do it all in one go, others might do the other quests and pick up some as they go along. Worth asking the group if they plan on doing it.
–Krall Desecration: Kill 5 Veteran Tursin Smackstoppers, done after completing the Held Sacred. Short one.
–Sealing the Abyss Gate: Last quest of the campaign obtained after doing all the other ones. You will need to specify you need it as the gate is all the way in the back of the garrison and groups will not go near it if working on marks or the other quests.
–A Nest of Lepharists: While not directly a Krall quest this one is worth mentioning as the last part is not intended to be soloable and its completion is needed for Sealing the Abyss Gate.
Step 1: Getting to level 18
Level 18 is the magic number here to get invited into Krall groups.
Step 2: Preparation
Before hoping into a group there’s a lot you can do solo before getting invited into a group and it can save a few runs and groups. First of all complete all campaign quests previous to Flying Reconnaissance. Then:
-Get all campaign quests. Check Verteron, Miraju holy ground and follow the instructions.
-Complete the first few steps of Flying Reconnaissance solo. This means first of all using the potion inside the gate of the Tursin Outpost to do the flying part and then bringing the live Tursin Loudmouth Boss to Meteina.
-Complete the first part of A Nest of Lepharists, the recon while disguised as a parrot. You need to get in the ship and in the meeting room with the captain.
-If able to, find a quick group to finish the quest A Nest of Lepharists, healing classes have reported being able to solo it and small groups of 2 to 3 people have done it also.
If you have done it right your campaign journal should show the following.
-All quest before Flying reconnaissance completed(done)
–Flying Reconnaissance: need to get 3 Tribal flags.
–Held Sacred: get 5 Icon of Kaisinel
–Mark of Vengeance: get 50 Krall Marks
-A ???? quest: will become Krall Desecration
–A Nest of Lepharists: done
-Another ???? quest: will become Sealing the Abyss Gate once the rest is done.
First group: Tursin outpost (Flying Reconnaisance)
We need to clear everything that’s not in the Tursin Garrison. So first order of business needs to be getting the tribal flags in Tursin outpost. It’s not a complicated quest but since there are fewer groups to do this part specifically it can take a while.
Two important things are worth mentioning. First of all, there can be tribal flag spawns in Tursin garrison too. There are fewer and they are most often out of easy reach but this part can be done while in Tursin garrison if need be. Second, Flying reconnaissance is a stand alone quest in that it’s not required for Krall Desecration and the last part in Tursin garrison is easy and quick to do for a group doing the other quests. What this means is that it could be combined with the second group and hope for flags inside the garrison, and finishing up during the third group.
Second group: Tursin Garrison (Flying Reconnaisance, Held Sacred, Mark of Vengeance)
This is the longest part. You will need to farm 50 krall marks and it will take a while.
Now this is where you have to get devious. The Held Sacred quest is done right outside the Tursin Garrison and requires you to get 5 Icon of Kaisinel. The trick here is that once you have done it you get Krall Desecration wich requires you to kill 5 Veteran Tursin Smackstoppers inside the garrison. So what you need to do is try and negotiate a way for you to turn in Held Sacred before heading in Tursin Garrison. Most often other people will have Held Sacred so it’s a good selling point. If you’re a healer or tank they will just have to wait for you since nothing will get done without you anyway. If you can manage this you just saved yourself a whole group!
Once inside finish up flying reconnaissance by heading to the totem pole, using the quest item and then killing Ziloota the Seer wich is just a bit north of the totem under a huge rock formation. Then as you farm the place keep an eye open to make sure you get the Veteran Tursin Smackstoppers if you need them. Once you have your 50 Krall Marks your done!
Third group: Tursin Garrison (Krall Desecration)
This part can be frustrating since you might be heading in to kill only 5 Veteran Tursin Smackstoppers after all. I’ve put it in a separate group however since the way quests are set-up and groups are forming you might have to do it on its own. But if at all possible try doing this one on your second run like I said earlier. You may have to do this quest while piggybacking a Krall mark group as very few groups are only doing this quest and not the Krall marks.
Fourth group: Tursin Garrison (Sealing the Abyss Gate)
At last! Head in the garrison for the last time and go all the way to the south in the corner. Once at the gate click it to jump in, kill the mobs and head out knowing you just finished the Verteron campaign. If you don’t see a group to do this quest specifically you might try to find a group going for Kraka(the boss) and plead with them to clear a few more mobs up to the gate. If all else fail try tricking a Krall marks group.
A shortcut for devious monkeys
Held Sacred/Krall Desecration are the two quest that will have you running around and probably having to come back do painful Krall Marks groups more than once. The trick here to shave some time and a group is to do Krall Desecration at the same time as the marks. If your without morals, willing to risk your rep and/or hold your group hostage there’s a few ways open to you.
The first and probably less damaging one is simply to state you intend to turn in Held Sacred right after its done. Like said earlier you might not be only one needing to do this and depending on your class you might even be able to hold the group hostage.
The second option is to either fake disconnect/real life/guild stuff/etc.. to drop the group right after Held Sacred so you can turn it in. By the same token you can also do this after krall desecration as soon as your 5 Veteran Tursin Smackstoppers are dead. I don’t recommend this but with the quality of pugs you get these days it might save you a serious headache. Of course this is a no-go in guild groups as you want them to invite you again.
My PuG failed… arghhhh
This is not as bad as it sounds. Since you have a potential of four groups to have to make and because of the Held Sacred – Krall Desecration mechanic you might be saving some time here. Most groups will disband right after a member leaves or during the Krall marks quests. The trick here is to make sure you have the right quests for the area and always make sure that Krall marks farming is the last thing to do.
There you have it, a nice little guide to finish up the Verteron campaign while enduring as few PuGs as possible.
