No matter how nice your guild is and how accommodating everyone is, raid leading does take its toll on you. There’s always a little something needing your attention and some other issue taking some of your time. It could be gearing the new recruit, fine tuning a strat, figuring out how to help out a guildie or just listening to someone ideas.
These are all part of what I consider a normal raid leader job but it does take away from actually playing the game and it can grow to be all that you see. I admit I fell into that trap with Snark Side and gradually, without me noticing, I wasn’t playing the game anymore, I was handling raids. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that the snarkers are a super needy bunch but after a while it does take its toll.
So last week I asked to be allowed to take a break from raid leading for a while and I have to admit it has been a great move. For the first time since June I think I genuinely had a blast raiding. Not having to worry about anything but hit stuff in the face did wonders for me and I feel dumb for not thinking about it sooner. I’m not quitting raid leading forever but I really need this break and I’m happy that my guild is allowing me to do it.
Besides that not much to say beyond we’re still on track for hardmode EC and we can’t have Terror from Beyond soon enough!
Back to work, monkey!
