Gaming on hold while I jedi knight

July 19, 2012 by lonomonkey

I’ve been thinking about making a Jedi Knight in swtor for a while now. Not any Jk mind you, a chiss Jk. I guess something in leveling an Imperial race while republic appeals to me.

Yesterday the opportunity presented itself with a generous donation from a guild member and the fact that one of our tanks will be leaving Swtor comes september and that having a replacement tank will be needed. Now, there are others who can fill the role but the timing was right for a good old powerleveling.

See, I want to get the leveling done as quickly as possible. I know that if I drag on for too long I’ll probably lose motivation and I want to be done sooner rather than later.  Plus there’s something fun in a good ol powerlevel. I do intend to watch the Jk storyline but the rest of the time I want to be as fast as possible.

One of the side effect is also that the rest of my gaming will be put on hold while I do this. Not saying I won’t do anything else and there’s going to be some secret world at some point but greatly reduced.

I managed to do 1 to 13 yesterday but I’m wondering if anyone has tips for powerleveling in swtor. So far I’m doing quests and trying to keep my log in the yellow but there  might be tricks I don’t know about. If you guys have any I’m all ears.

My third character has gone the fastest for sure. I bought him a few of the leveling perks, but that was recent. I think the biggest thing was being diligent about doing space battles every day. I quickly out-leveled the class content, so any regular questing I did along the way went very quickly. Of course, as soon as I got the chapter 2 unlock bonus, I quit pushing the leveling, but the space does continue to be very good xp for not a lot of time investment.

I second the space battle thing. Especially at lower levels they are a huge fraction of a level’s worth of XP. I dished out the credits for the XP boost for space battles too and the difference is noticeable but not gigantic. On my Sith Warrior I’ve been focusing on space, class quest and the main planet story quest for each planet. It keeps you moving at a good pace but you will eventually end up a bit under-level for a zone and need to do a few extra quests to bounce back up again.

Generally, as Alex said, do space missions daily. Also ignore every heroic unless there is someone standing there waiting to help out. Craft or buy purples as they will last a number of levels and it saves time on looking at quest rewards. Spacebar ftw! Level as DPS and switch to tank. Use a tank companion or if geared well use the DPS companion. I leveled my marauder in under 4 days /played using the melee DPS character wherever possible and the healer for class quest bosses.

The absolute best way I found in that game was to have a very willing high level friend who’ll kill everything for you so that you can subsist entirely on quest turn ins that are 4-5 levels above your own. Really helps with those low level planets, though the effect diminishes as you progress to the later planets obviously.

I found the best way to level is to do my class quests, space missions, and the daily pvp quest. I also purchase the legacy leveling perks for quests, pvp, and space. You will rocket up the levels.
