Just a quick post today. At some point in your Swtor journey you will be coming across planets that you need to access by space station. It’s a fun quirk the first time but it gets old fast. Go to planet, load screen, go to space station, take another shuttle, more loading and then you’re on the planet.
I know I said in my post about Hoth I don’t mind taking my time in order to gain some immersion but there’s also a time when waste of time needs to be called a waste of time. One planet with a space station is a fun quirk, two I can manage but every single planet past level 25 is not fun!
Also, I want a bind point on my ship, make it happen Bioware!

The funny thing is, in many sci-fi (not sci-fi GAME) universes, accessing a planet via orbital space station is the norm, not the exception. Docking port, customs house, supply depot – the station is the port city of the world.
It is also true that those universes have different assumptions about starships. Bit things that don’t have the ability to just slip in and out of atmosphere without falling apart, purpose-built structures designed to travel the stars efficiently, and let someone else worry about getting the cargo to the ground. Whereas the Star Wars technology has a bit of magical quality where something the size of an F4 Phantom has all you need to travel the stars AND operate in atmosphere AND carry out combat missions.
One of my favorite 4X games of all time – Stars! – won’t even let you ACCESS a planet without either a space station in orbit or a very advanced and expensive mining vessel.
Accurate? Possibly, or at least realistic. Good gameplay? Probably not. I imagine this is the same feeling we’d've had in WoW if we had to pause for a loading screen every time we went from Elwynn to Redridge (ala EQ).
